Inspection of Spray equipment before mixing and loading; mixing and loading safely to avoid exposure and spills; triple rinsing and disposal of containers.
8:00-9:00 a.m. – Pesticide Use Overview (AWM) – Matt Buller, County of San Diego, Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Standards Inspector.
Review of select pesticide laws and regulations, including the Neonicotinoid Pesticide Exposure Protection regulations (3CCR 6990) taking effect January 1, 2024.
9:00-10:00 a.m. – Bee Protection Laws and Regulation (AWM) – Jaime Garza, County of San Diego, Department of Agriculture, Weights and Measures Apiary/Agricultural Standards Inspector.
Bee protection before and when applying pesticide, and introduction to BeeWhere online tools for Beekeepers, Pest Control Advisors and Pesticide Applicators.
10:00-10:15 a.m. – Session Break
10:15-11:15 a.m. – PRESCRIBE – Online Database Application – Leopoldo Moreno, Senior Environmental Scientist, Endangered Species Program, Department of Pesticide Regulation (Sacramento, CA).
An introduction to the Pesticide Regulation’s Endangered Species Custom Realtime Internet Bulletin Engine (PRESCRIBE) and its implication when writing Pest Control Recommendations.
11:15-11:45 a.m. – 2024, the Year of Change – Patrick Dosier, CAPCA, Innovation & Technology Director.
Update on the various regulations expected to go into effect January 1, 2024: updated Neonic Regulations, 1,3-D Regulations, changes to ESA requirements.
