Duties, Qualifications, & Requirements: 
• Monitor packinghouse sanitation with monthly spore assays , degreening process and for; aging inventory, re-packing operations, and general fruit conditions
• Participate in equipment surveys to learn about identifying and correcting areas in the packinghouse that cause fruit damage or other process issues.
• Respond to unplanned events / solve customer technical problems as needed or as directed by Account Manager or supervisor.
• Review the need for training/seminars to customers on decay control, degreening, sanitation, and/or other topics. Provide training as needed or upon Account Manager’s request.
• Participate in competitive wax demonstrations to learn about Tech Service’s role and what is important to measure and observe during demonstrations.
• Maintain PCA license and any necessary county endorsements.
• Prepare and present technical seminars to customers and potential customers to support our products and services as required by the business or if requested by the Account Managers.
• Ensure that monthly residues are pulled per procedure and sent to Riverside for analysis.
• Evaluate chemical concentrations in recirculated drench systems at least once a week; in aqueous/wax spray systems once every two weeks.
• Regularly monitor wax performance for shine consistency throughout the season.
• Provide support and assistance to R&D personnel during the evaluation of products and services.
• Provide accurate and objective feedback to R&D personnel on the performance of new and existing products.
• Make recommendations to R&D on possible improvement to current products or services.

Education and Skill Qualifications: 
Mandatory
• BS or BA in Agriculture, Biology, Horticulture, or related scientific field.
Preferred
• Course work in postharvest physiology and pathology, citrus science, or postharvest technology.

Mandatory
• Basic command of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Outlook
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must hold a CA Pest Control Advisor’s license at time of employment or within 6 months of employment.
Preferred:
• Experience handling chemicals & working w/ postharvest chemical application systems.
• Customer service experience, Postharvest and/or citrus related work experience

Job Description: The primary purpose of this position is to manage the implementation of the Regional Business Unit (RBU) structure and teams, and lead business development, marketing, and technical activities within the region, to support the business development of SAN Group’s Global Business Units (GBU), considering top goals and strategies established in the strategic plans and budgets.

 These are the tasks we trust in you:

Job Description: The primary focus of this position will be to assist Oxnard Production and Agronomy teams with monitoring key berry pests and supporting implementation of Best Management Practices. This will be accomplished by managing pest traps on designated raspberry/blackberry ranches as well as logging findings, auditing grower practices through risk assessment evaluations, retrieving and reviewing spray records with entomologist, and supporting special projects and crop monitoring as needed.

What You Will Do:

  • Scouting for key berry pests in grower fields in Ventura County
  • Monitoring and trap counts on specific ranches of focus
  • Record and manage scouting data each week
  • Communicate Best Management Practices to growers
  • Assist District Team with field inspections and risk assessment reporting
  • Retrieve and review spray records for ranches of focus
  • Coordinate team meetings to share findings and discuss next steps
  • Perform other duties as instructed by supervisor

What You Will Do:

Supporting specialty crop project managers and the local agronomy team to ensure the proper utilization of all agronomic practices (i.e. recommendations for pest management, field preparation, planting, irrigation, and harvest).

Supporting specialty crop project managers in crop protection trial management (i.e. plot spraying, assessments, data input, etc.).

  • Scout crops frequently and report on insect, weed, plant health, and irrigation needs.
  • Train and oversee intern and work crews that are completing tasks.
  • Participate in all agronomy and planning meetings, acting as a vocal consultant to scientists and agronomy team.
  • Draft and implement standard operating procedures for specialty crops.
  • Mix and apply chemicals as needed.
  • Operate farm equipment on-site.
  • Maintain required safety programs.

Requirements: 

  • Minimum of BS degree in Crop Science, Agronomy, Plant Sciences or related field of study or 5+ years of direct experience in a similar role.
  • California PCA license, or ability to obtain as soon as possible.
  • Experience with implementation of applied agricultural field trials preferred.
  • Agronomic experience in California specialty crops highly desired.
  • High proficiency in reading, writing, and fluent in English.
  • No VISA sponsorship.
