Individual Membership

California Association of Pest Control Advisers The California Association of Pest Control Advisers(CAPCA) was established in 1975 to support and promote agricultural pest control advisers (PCAs). PCAs are professional production consultants who serve California agricultural and horticultural producers. As a member of a local chapter, you are also a member of the state organization. CAPCA maintains 16 local chapters. Each local chapter elects representatives who communicate the needs of their local members to a State Board of Directors. The State Board assists in directing the affairs of the statewide organization which is administered by a President/CEO and a staff at headquarters based in Sacramento.
Legislative Advocacy

CAPCA communicates with California policy makers about the state's agricultural and horticultural industries and the important role PCAs serve in the production of food, fiber and ornamental crops. CAPCA plays an active role in the legislative process to ensure the safety and viability of California plant production. CAPCA employs professional legislative advocates, plus our staff, to watch over legislation and regulations pertaining to the ag consulting profession.

CAPCA PAC

CAPCA's Political Action Committee is a separate function of CAPCA. It raises funds for support of political issues, candidates or initiatives that may impact CAPCA members.

Education and Tracking

In addition to the local chapter continuing education meetings, CAPCA hosts an annual conference. Experts in agriculture, horticulture, science, government and related industries address CAPCA members during the multiple-day event. The conference also allows members to network with PCAs from all areas of the state. The 35th Annual Conference is set for October 25-37, 2009 at John Asquaga's Nugget in Sparks, NV.

CAPCA offers Active Members continuing education hour tracking, to facilitate licensing renewal. Updates are available on the CAPCA web site or by calling the office, and official certificates are mailed each fall.

CAPCA offers two scholarships annually: one $3,000 scholarship from the California Association of Pest Control Advisers (CAPCA) and one $2,000 scholarship from Syngenta.
